Literacy can open up a whole world of opportunities: helping people to access health care, further their education, and break the cycle of poverty.
But unfortunately, the printing and publishing costs of books can make fostering an interest in reading expensive.
The success of our Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me-TV shows have inspired us to make our educational stories more accessible and widely available, even to those who have limited access to digital devices. Over the past 3 years, we’ve been working hard to launch our popular stories on a new platform: e-Books!
E-Books are a fantastic way to access entire libraries of books for all age ranges and for a typically lower cost than a hard copy. E-books can be downloaded onto smartphones, computers, tablets, and e-readers and once purchased, they are there to stay!
We have recently launched our series of Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me e-Books with Kitabu App – an e-reader and e-book library rolled into one for the East African market. Kitabu App is available on Android and iPhone devices and once you purchase any of our books, it will be downloaded onto your device for you or your child to read whenever, wherever. Kitabu App is made even more accessible by using mobile money (Tigo Pesa, Mpesa etc.) to purchase books, so there is no need to enter credit card or bank details.

All our e-Books (2,000 TZ Shillings/book or about US$1) are available in both Kiswahili and English. The Akili and Me e-Books are perfect for introducing little ones to story-time and increasing their vocabulary.
Ubongo Kids e-Books bring the likes of Mama Bird and Tiny Tembo the elephant to life in entertaining and educational stories for kids looking to improve their reading and math skills.Enjoy & learn!
