Kyaka II, a vulnerable refugee settlement in Western Uganda, is home to over 120,000 people, many of them being young children who lack access to early foundational education. A lot of these kids, hail from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), have fled a severe displacement crisis, seeking refuge from the ongoing conflict in their home country. The need for educational resources is critical, especially for the 20,000 kids aged 3-14 years who are eager to learn but face significant barriers.

To address this urgent need, Ubongo has partnered with the Youth Initiative for Development in Africa (YIDA) and Their World to bring high-impact educational programming to these underserved and marginalized children in Kyaka II. Through our last-mile distribution program, we’re delivering play-based learning content that helps children develop essential skills in a safe and engaging environment. This initiative ensures that even the most vulnerable children can learn, thrive, and have the best possible start in life. We are proud of the remarkable impact we are making and are excited about the future as we continue to reach more children in need.
