For the last few months, Ubongo has been conducting a study in rural Tanzania on the educational effectiveness of the new Akili and Me cartoon. The Project Leader, Iqbal, as well as about 15 enumerators, have been working tirelessly to finish a three month Randomized Controlled Trial, or RCT, at dozens of government-run nursery schools. In the end, hundreds of Tanzanian children will have watched either the new Akili and Me episodes or a non-educational cartoon programme. The goal? We want to make sure our newest programme is educationally supreme and we see significant educational gains in the children who watch the cartoon. The initial results are very promising and we look forward to sharing the final information soon!
