Have you watched our new music video?
On Wednesday morning, we premiered the Ubongo Kids collaboration with Tanzanian singer, Damian Soul, supported by Save the Children. Members of the press were in attendance as representatives from the three parties explained the project.
Currently, Save the Children has a new focus on using music and the arts as a way of protecting the rights of children to living in safety, at school and in the home primarily. The production of the song and video were sponsored by the European Union so many thanks to them. The video has new animated clips of Damian Soul and familiar Ubongo characters, as well as clips from Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me!
The hope is that this video will let children feel that they are valued and it will encourage adults to be more gentle towards them. Ubongo animator Mohammed wants the focus to be on the ability to teach children without violence, fitting in to the Ubongo mission of using music as a means of education. It also doesn’t hurt that the song is really catchy! The event ended with Damian then played an live, acoustic version with everyone singing along.
We’re eager to see what response the song gets from children, parents and teachers throughout Africa, but particularly in Tanzania. The original version of the song already had already garnered a lot of buzz when Ubongo Kids were approached to help make a children’s version. The new version has an animated music video and children’s voices edited in. Let us know what you think!
